Mounting the DD BT30 tweeters into the Hogtunes grills

The pictures below take you through visually what I did to mount the Digital Designs BT30 tweeter into the Hogtunes Rushmoore grill.

I used a scrap 2x4 to secure the grills so they wouldn't move around as I drilled.  I used a 2 1/4" hole saw bit.  In picture 2 you can see the lock ring from the tweeter surround fits just over the hole saw bit.  This means if you drill it correctly you can use that ring to lock the tweeter into place.

First drill a pilot hole with a smaller regular drill bit, and then a slightly larger hole with a larger bit.  Once you have done that use the bit in the hole saw in the pilot hole you made.  Be careful and enlarge your pilot hole so that your bit can spin freely.

At this point just hold steady and let the hole saw do the work.  Take your time!

Once you have the hole you can use a dremel, a round file, or any metal file you want to clean up the edges.  The tweeter face plate will already fit in the hole so you can assemble the two halves of the tweeter mounting pod.

Screw the two halves together and then screw the lock ring on from the back to secure everything.  You can spin the tweeter by loosening everything up so you can align it how you want as you put it on the bike.

Final picture is the result of both BT30s mounted to the Hogtunes grills.
